Mission Statement

La Herencia de San Clemente is a non-profit organization formed to provide cultural and historical services to the town of Chamita and the surrounding communities in northern New Mexico. The corporation shall exist as a non-profit organization with all money raised used to restore, support, protect, enhance and educate about religious, cultural and historic assets and properties of Chamita, Rio Arriba County and other rural communities in northern New Mexico.

Migration to Northern New Mexico

Rio Arriba County is part of the Northern Rio Grande National Heritage Area, a 10,000 square mile area of outdoor wonders and historic treasures encompassed within the boundaries of Santa Fe, Rio Arriba and Taos counties in north-central New Mexico, contains the centers of Pueblo and Spanish governance and settlement (Chamita/San Gabriel del Yunque).
